  1. Great design, great tint, does what I ordered it for. 4 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Jun 2018

The E21 I received was as I expected, I really like the ability to turn it from 2AAA to 1AAA (its a much better size for keeping in my work pocket as a 1AAA, and I run it with a 10440 battery to get full lumens. The light is a great tint like afternoon sunlight, the moonlight/low is great with the 10440 or 2AAAs but with 1AAA its a little weak (for my personal tastes). The medium and high and great, however with the 10440 they are quite close, with 2 AAA and 1 AAA they are better spaced. The light is indeed built like a tank, the middle section adds quite a lot of bulk and thickness while not being too long, with it removed the light is quite slight and fits nicely into small pen pockets. The tail switch is great, it feels sturdy and has a nice tactile feel, not too soft and not too hard, cycling the mode works well with part push and full click (however see below for a negative). I'd love to see Manker produce similar pen light as thin as it can with 1AAA, 2AAA and 10440 capability to fit in short and thin pen pockets. Build and finish of the body was excellent. Shipping was expedient, and packaging was well above what is required, the light is heavily protected and highly professional, just what I like to see.

Cons: -The LED is not centred in my light, only a small thing but makes the build feel better if it is.
-There is a tint donut in my light, with the hotspot having a distinct bright ring, slightly weaker middle and then a good spill. I feel this could have been alleviated with a frosted glass, or a reflector that left less space from the edge of the LED to the start of the reflector, or I may have a faulty LED.
-My light suffers from a startup pulse/flicker as it is put back into low mode from high mode. This happens with all battery options.
-I feel it would be nice for the time between settings to be much shorter, 1 or 2 seconds between returning to low mode, my light takes 12-13 seconds before it forgets the last setting which is far too long in my opinion.

  2. Top-notch penlight 5 Star Review

This is one great penlight! Very solidly built, works perfectly as a forward clicky with momentary-on feature, and even has a strobe mode. Beam quality is the best: large central region which smoothly blends into the peripheral region, with that beautiful Nichia 219B tint that accurately renders colors. I am one happy customer! [The little package from China with all that Chinese writing on it is pretty cool too!]
